Richard B. Brewer

Richard B. Brewer, who joined SRI International's board of directors in 2006, has 30 years of management experience for the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries. As Managing Partner of Crest Asset Management, he identifies biotechnology investment opportunities.

While CEO and President of Scios Inc. from 1998 to 2004, Brewer directed the company's merger with Johnson & Johnson following development of treatments for cardiovascular diseases. From 1996 to 1998, Brewer served as COO of Heartport, Inc., a company specializing in cardiovascular devices. With Genentech, Inc. from 1984 to 1995, Brewer was responsible for product launches as senior vice president of sales and marketing and senior vice president of Genentech Europe and Canada.

Brewer is currently chairman of the board of Dendreon Corporation and is a board member of Agensys, Inc., Corus Pharma, Corgentech Inc. and Arginox Pharmaceuticals and Sinexus, Inc. He holds a B.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University.
