Research Subjects Needed

SRI's Policy Division oversees major health and education studies and often needs research subjects from the local area (volunteer and paid). We offer the following volunteer opportunities in our Center for Health Sciences:

  • Twin Youths and Adults
SRI seeks identical and fraternal twins aged 8 and up for its Northern California Twin Registry. With twin youths, SRI expects to perform studies about brain development, sleeping patterns, and learning abilities. The Center also seeks smoking and non-smoking adult twins to participate in nicotine research studies. Participants are eligible to receive payment for their involvement. Call 1-800-SRI-TWIN for more information and to register for studies. Parents of twins aged 8-17 should call on their children's behalf. Adult twins can also register online.

  • Human Sleep Research
To understand more about the human brain, SRI's Human Sleep Research Program studies sleep and conducts tests of the nervous system during sleep. Our work includes government-funded studies of human sleep patterns, for which we often seek paid volunteers. Volunteers must travel to SRI's Human Sleep Research Laboratory in Menlo Park, California for participation. Visit their Volunteer Opportunities page for more information on current studies.
