Focus @ SRI:
Producing winning proposals and helping technical staff meet publication-related contract deliverables
Day in the Life @ SRI:
Formatting and editing reports and proposals; attending kickoff meetings; setting schedules and juggling priorities; ensuring proposals and reports are compliant with client requirements
Before SRI:
Immediately before coming to SRI I worked at Dalmo Victor, a defense contractor (since acquired by Litton) as Manager of Corporate Communications, where I was responsible for several groups: editing, word processing, graphics, and print shop and copy center. I was also company historian and wrote a monthly newsletter. Prior to Dalmo Victor I worked at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, where 35 years ago I established the Lab's first word processing center.
Academics:
B.S. in Business Management with a minor in Communications from College of Notre Dame (now Notre Dame de Namur University); Certificate in Supervision from Santa Clara University

Away from the Office:
Spending time with family, bowling, working out at the Decathlon Club, and reading. I'm currently enrolled in the Global College of Natural Health's Holistic Health Practitioner program. And I'm writing a novel, something very non-technical and whimsical, but with a little suspense.
Languages:
I'm half bilingual.
Proudest Professional Accomplishment:
Going to school full time while working full time, and graduating with a 3.98 GPA
In my thirties: Surviving Army Reserve boot camp as part of the Civilian Acquired Skills program
In my fifties: Leg pressing 550 pounds (15 reps)

Accept SRI for all its idiosyncrasies, and embrace the wonderful opportunities that are available here. Be open to trying new things. Really listen to and pick the brains of the experts in your field, and then evolve and sell your own ideas.
