Join Our Team of Innovators

Would you like to help save lives and address critical health issues facing millions of people around the globe? Join SRI and your work will make a difference every day.

Drug discovery and development: SRI takes pharmaceutical research from "idea to IND"™ – from initial discoveries to investigational new drug applications submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. SRI's Biosciences Division is a unique organization: We conduct basic research, perform drug discovery and develop biologics. We are a contract research organization (CRO) that offers a full range of preclinical development services. SRI has helped more than 100 drugs advance into clinical trials and more than 30 drugs into the market.

Health sciences: Our Center for Health Sciences researchers apply a multidisciplinary approach to complex issues at the crossroads of basic science, clinical medicine, health care economics, and regulatory environments. We address areas such as tobacco addiction, genetics, behavioral pharmacology, human sleep, and aging.

Medical devices: Our medical product development teams work on pioneering robotic surgical systems, biosensors, ultrasonic scanners, blood pressure instruments, blood and tissue sampling devices, insulin delivery systems, digital X-ray systems and more.

Computational biology: Acceleration of biological discovery can profoundly affect our ability to combat disease, cancer, hunger, and problems associated with aging. At the intersection of computing and biology, bioinformatics is creating collaborative opportunities for research. SRI is a key player in this important, growing area.

SRI's innovations in biosciences and health include

  • Vaccine development: For decades, SRI has provided preclinical services to the National Institutes of Health in support of more than 200 drugs and therapeutic vaccines at various stages of development, including HIV/AIDS.
  • Halofantrine: This treatment for a drug-resistant form of malaria was developed by SRI for the U.S. Army and marketed by GlaxoSmithKline and the World Health Organization to save countless lives around the world.
  • Substance abuse studies: For the U.S. government, SRI is examining the causes and consequences of nicotine and alcohol addiction.
