Gas Separations Technology
SRI's Catalysis and Analytic Chemistry team is developing new gas
separation processes that leverage advances in fiber and membrane
technology to addressing the difficult challenge of separating compounds
of similar properties in a selective, energy-efficient way. This
technology is focused on helping chemical companies adopt
new processes designed to reduce manufacturing costs and open new
markets. Our collaborative research with Amoco in the gas separations
technology project was funded by an Advanced Technology Program grant.
Advantage
The chemical industry currently uses costly, energy consuming
procedures for separations. SRI's advances provide a more efficient
approach, with added production savings that can be passed on to the
consumer through lower gas prices. The technology can also be used by
the petrochemical industry for separating olefins and paraffins.
Opportunity
Licensing opportunities are available for SRI's gas separations technology.
