Joseph R. Stetter, Ph.D., is a recognized expert in the field of chemical and biological sensing. He currently serves as laboratory director of the Microsystems Innovation Center at SRI International. Current programs address biosensing and nanoengineered biocompatible surfaces, microstructures for vaccine delivery, as well as micro-plasmas, electron and ion generation, and sensors. He is also a research professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology and the president of KWJ Engineering Inc., a start-up company developing and manufacturing next-generation sensor technology.
Dr. Stetter has won several prestigious awards for his work in sensor research, instrument development, and technology transfer. He is the author of more than 100 refereed journal articles and holds more than 30 patents.
Stetter earned his Ph.D. and B.A. in physical chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
